About the Business Area
Registration and Licensing Services manage complex and diverse transactions requiring expertise to ensure the customer receives seamless and effective service whilst helping meet our commitments towards safe drivers, safer vehicles and road safety. The business area works with a network of third-party service providers, authorised agents and major contractors to achieve its objectives.
About the Role
We are currently looking for a Compliance officer to join the Compliance and Decision Support Team within Registration and Licensing Services in a full-time permanent role, at our Kew office. Your responsibilities will include the delivery of all key aspects of compliance activities to aid our third-party service providers meet the relevant VicRoads operating requirements. Also establishing, planning and scheduling activities, reviewing work papers, composing reports and maintaining high level stakeholders contact.
The Compliance officer will report to Vehicle Standard Senior Compliance officer which forms part of broader team which contains compliance functions for R&L Services.
About the Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong background in compliance auditing, within a high-volume, technical & complex environment. You will have strong conceptual and analytical skills, which is reflected by your detailed reporting and analytical capabilities. You will be a leader amongst your peers with the ability to lead a diverse compliance and assurance program delivery. You will also operate with a strategic mindset with an ability to contribute to ongoing improvement through innovation.
Formal tertiary engineering qualifications (Mechanical or Automotive) enabling admission to the Institution of Engineers Australia and have gained at least 2 years of practical experience in the automotive industry dealing with vehicle standards.

KA 1. Exercise professional independent judgement during compliance activities to identify issues in support of service provider registration and licensing issues and the ability to prepare supporting detailed reports.
KA 2. Skilfully lead or significantly contribute to the development and implementation of risk-based compliance programs
KA 3. Schedule and deliver comprehensive programs of compliance activities across external service provider networks in accordance with defined audit methodologies and guidelines.
KA 4. Confidently assess and present advice to senior leaders and/or external industry stakeholders regarding technical matters affecting vehicle standards demonstrating a strong awareness of legislation, Australian Design Rules and other relevant policy or guidelines.
KA 5. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external service providers including the ability to communicate compliance data at relevant forums.
KA 6. Be energetic, proactive and possess the motivation to positively contribute to a high performing team and positive culture of achievement.
KC 1. Apply specialist expertise and understanding of vehicle standards, with a proven ability to understand or interpret legislation, standards and design rules affecting vehicle registration compliance.
KC 2. Demonstrate highly developed strategic, conceptual and problem-solving skills to identify issues, trends and make recommendations to deliver effective outcomes for complex matters.
KC 3. Apply knowledge and experience in compliance practises through the development and application of compliance frameworks, analytical tools and management systems.
KC 4. Co-ordinate planning, scheduling and self-management relevant to the development and delivery of multiple programs whilst maintaining the ability to deliver agreed outcomes within tight timeframes.
KC 5. Apply strong written communication skills coupled with contemporary reporting tools to prepare specialised reports for presentation to senior leaders and/or external partners.
KC 6. Demonstrated ability to be engaged and motivated to achieve business goals through:· taking accountability of issues and problem resolution.· role modelling a culture of Care, Share, Dare, and· proactively supporting an achievement-based focus.
PR 1. Formal tertiary engineering qualifications (Mechanical or Automotive) enabling admission to the Institution of Engineers Australia.
PR 2. Minimum 2 years of practical experience in the automotive industry dealing with vehicle standards.
PR 3. Current and valid driver’s licence.
PR 4. Ability to undertake significant travel in metro, regional and interstate locations.
