The Senior Project Engineer supports the planning and delivery of major complex road infrastructure through developing and delivering project activities, supporting the strategic direction and building effective and collaborative stakeholder relationships.

About MRPV

Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) was established to deliver a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of key road projects across Victoria, including new roads, road widenings, new bridges and major freeway upgrades. MRPV manages complex and strategically important road projects from business case development through to completion connecting local communities and supporting Victoria's growing economy.

The Role

The recently announced Program Delivery Approach (PDA) model for the Suburban Roads Upgrade program, will accelerate the program of works and as a Senior Project Engineer you will provide professional expertise to ensure the development and delivery of complex major road infrastructure projects to time, scope, cost and quality requirements on behalf of the State. The program of works will see you partner with contractors to deliver significant infrastructure projects including road upgrades, bridge constructions and major intersection upgrades.

This is a fixed term position available for 3 years.

About you

  • Contractor experience delivering major infrastructure projects
  • Extensive experience within road construction including an appreciation of the risks associated with working in a public space and the potential impact on project objectives
  • Advanced negotiating skills, the ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively and able to extract maximum value from third-party agreements
  • Experience working effectively with a third-party contractor workforce
  • A sound understanding of contract management and the risks inherent in not meeting agreed contractual terms and conditions

A relevant engineering or related tertiary qualification (Bachelor of Civil Engineering preferred) is mandatory.
