Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, Delivery, the Communications Manager, Passenger is responsible for supporting the development and delivery of communication strategies and plans that enable Metro’s Passenger team to communicate effectively and engage with its people, the wider organisation and key stakeholders.

As a strategic communications business partner, this role partners closely with the General Manager, Corporate Communications in the delivery of Metro’s Passenger strategy and supports the General Manager, Corporate Communication to deliver on the wider Passenger Delivery strategic agenda.

The Communications Manager, Passenger plays a critical role in ensuring Metro’s passenger-facing workforce understands our Vision, Strategy and Business Plan via by enabling visible leadership, two-way conversation and messaging that connects with employees and builds understanding about their overall role and how they contribute to our success and delivering outstanding customer experience.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• Relevant qualifications and extensive relevant experience in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, Marketing and/or related field.
• Significant relevant experience in internal/external communication and/or corporate communication roles with previous success operating as a trusted advisor to senior management in a senior communication role.
• Experience in communication within a large and complex organisation, especially communicating with a highly unionised and mobile workforce combined with communication arising from the introduction of new technology and systems in an organisation.
• Previous experience in partnering with a People Division in delivering effective change and communication programs including values and behaviours and enterprise bargaining is essential.
• Highly credible advisor and business partner to senior executives; quickly builds confidence, trust and influence with executives.
• Proven ability to develop and execute creative, results-driven communication strategies that are aligned with tangible business goals and objectives.
• Able to effectively influence and build successful relationships across the organisation; identify messages appropriate for different audiences and establish the service offering with internal clients.
• Demonstrated strategic planning skills as well as tactical delivery, with superior skills in oral and written communication.
• Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and effective prioritisation to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and evolving environment; working with ambiguity and environments of constant change.
