Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Communications, this position exists to enable the Delivery Divisions of Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) to develop and implement effective communications strategies and deliver them. That work should result in high quality communications to MTM staff, directly related to the Operation and Passenger Delivery Division, along with the Network Assets and Assurance Division - as well as other Divisions on an as-needed basis.
As a key business partner for MTM's senior leaders, the Senior Communications Manager, Delivery, will provide leadership, strategy, direction and tactical implementation of work with a team, by applying specialist knowledge and best practice communications within the complexities of a large, multifaceted transport environment.

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:
• Relevant qualifications and extensive relevant experience in Journalism, Communication, Public Relations, and/or related field.
• Experience in communication within a large and complex organisation, especially communicating with a highly unionised and mobile workforce combined with communication arising from the introduction of new technology and systems in an organisation.
• Proven ability to execute complex tasks to completion within tight timeframes.
• Sound business partnering skills and high-level interpersonal skills into general manager and executive level; able to effectively influence and build sustainable and successful relationships.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated ability to absorb complex information and re-present it simply and to deadline with competing priorities.
• Demonstrated strategic planning skills as well as tactical delivery in a fast-paced, agile, dynamic and evolving environment.
• Organisational intelligence - experience finding a way through policies, procedures and politics in a large organisation.
• An ability to engage in consultation, understand a diverse range of views, engage others in constructive debate and manage expectations, all coupled with the ability to maintain people's trust.
• Prior success developing and implementing channel communication strategies and initiatives, and documenting and establishing the service offering with internal clients.
• Flexible and adaptable; comfortable working with ambiguity and in environments of constant change
