About the role: The Metro Tunnel Project is being delivered in three work packages, with a program level team assisting each package. The three work packages are: Rail Systems Alliance, Rail Infrastructure Alliance and the Tunnels & Stations Public Private Partnership. Reporting to the Design Review Manager you will be responsible for completing engineering assurance activities on behalf of MTM as ARTO on the Metro Tunnel Project. Main responsibilities of the role will include: 

  • Provide engineering services as a Signalling Installation, Testing & Commissioning (IT&C) Subject Matter Expert/Team lead in a suburban rail environment
  • Provide engineering oversight to the new Signalling IT&C works undertaken by different Work Packages
  • Assess the migration/deployment strategies for new conventional signalling equipment to assess risk and ensure minimal potential for disruption to the passenger information and control systems
  • Participate in the revision/development of relevant standards relating to signalling equipment
  • Ensure that all design reviews are conducted in accordance with MTM's agreed processes, including operational and functional requirements and the appropriate standards
  • Contribute to the risk register during the design and implementation phases, including monitoring and reporting of risk status
  • Liaise with stakeholders and key MTM internal project groups, operations, maintenance, infrastructure and other associated parties on a regular basis
  • Assist the Engineering Interface Managers and Engineering SME’s in preparing and processing Type Approvals, Standard Waivers and Engineering Changes
  • Report on the progress of all issues regarding the assigned project tasks and promptly notify necessary management of any matters which could have a material adverse effect on project or the business
Desired qualifications, skills and experience
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering is essential
  • At least 5 years’ experience in signalling construction, testing and commissioning as a Construction and/or Commissioning Engineer/Manager
  • Experience in signalling construction, testing and commissioning (and preferably design) of signalling equipment in a Victorian rail or tunnel/suburban environment
  • Experience in communications based signalling and control systems will be preferred
  • Knowledge of customer information and surveillance systems in a high density traffic suburban rail network will be highly regarded
