The Metro Tunnel Project The Metro Tunnel Project (MTP) is a game-changer for our city and our customers. The project will deliver more frequent services for customers, reducing network congestion and overcrowding. By introducing new systems and infrastructure it will modernise the network and deliver greater reliability. It will be the catalyst for better connectivity to underpin Melbournes sustainable growth into the future. The Metro Tunnel Project has the capacity to transform Melbourne and we are proud to be partners in its delivery. About the role: As a Project Engineer – Stabling & Stations, you will work within the Rail Infrastructure Alliance to manage the development of value for money design deliverables to satisfy client scope and technical requirements. You will ensure that they are inherently safe and practical to build, through integrated coordination of the design, systems assurance and delivery teams on the project. Finally, you will provide clear coordination of internal designers and external consultants, and act as the primary interface point with the client and external bodies as required. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • All non-rail systems design elements relating to Hawksburn Station and Resilience Crossovers, Western Turnback and Resilience Crossovers, Western Corridor Platform Extensions, Western Corridor Stabling, well as project wide track and formation
  • Manage the integration and coordination of the technical design effort with the Delivery Team, to ensure the whole civil and railway system meets specified functional and operational requirements.
  • Identify design solutions for the Alliance, and act as a main contributor to the construction program and Delivery Team
  • Monitor progress against the Design Program, and assist Design Managers to ensure the cost of the works meets project requirements
  • Assess scope change and review Change Requests on a value for money basis for the Alliance and the State to enable a clear recommendation to the Engineering Manager
  • Manage client and stakeholder expectations and communicate effectively with the project team
About your experience: A self-starter with demonstrated relevant experience within the Rail Industry and Engineering Qualifications. Additionally, you value the importance of teamwork and of listening, challenging your peers and making a difference. You are confident to bring innovation to the table. You have the agility to engage with a variety of stakeholders at all levels and the ability to manage multiple priorities while remaining focused on excellence. Consultative approaches to providing solutions regarding challenging assignments mixed with exceptional customer service are critical skills youve demonstrated over your career.
