Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) is a multi-award winning organisation and we pride ourselves on our team of high performing professionals who are talented, inclusive and safety focused. •Evaluate industry responses in conjunction with the designated evaluation team and select preferred suppliers.
•Provide specialist support on technical aspects of the project and liaise with nominated external specialist support resources.
•Consult with external agencies on critical issues that impact on projects, and achieve agreement on the most appropriate course of action that meets pre-determined objectives
•Manage contracts, and Contractors, engaged to deliver the project, including contract administration, ensuring that all contractual requirements are met and that the Project is delivered on site.
•Lead the Project Team (both direct staff and external support) and provide direction in the delivery of the Project.
•Accountable for the effective project management of assigned projects which includes scope, planning, costing, design, construction, testing, commissioning and commercial management.
•Plan, organise, direct and monitor assigned projects to ensure their completion on time and within budget, with all project risks mitigated to minimise their effect on train operations whilst ensuring that construction standards are maintained and conform to applicable safety, reliability and quality standards.

In this role, you will provide effective project management of the communications works on MTM Projects. This will include managing the new and existing copper and fibre optic communication requirements as part of the project scope. To be successful in the role, your previous experience will include: •Ability to prepare a tender design and recognise the common conditions of contractual terms, documentation, and tendering bid process.
•Ability to implement and monitor the company quality system.
•Ability to estimate and implement direct costing to user briefs, technical requirements and safety.
•Ability to cope with competing demands and a significant volume of work.
•Experience in engineering projects with demonstrated associated engineering techniques, acquired knowledge and achievements.
•Knowledge of engineering report preparation techniques.
•Demonstrated experience in the engineering principles of planning and scheduling.
•Experience in the management and/or maintenance of rail infrastructure on rail based projects.
